Establishing Pop a Picnic

Welcome y’all,

My name is Mari, and I founded Pop a Picnic in 2021. My idea stemmed from seeing TikToks of Luxury Picnic’s in California. I didn't have any luck finding a local business in San Antonio offering what I had in mind, then. However now, I’m one of several picnicprenuers in the area. It can be competive at times but I feel, we each have our own style that uniquely seperates us from each other. What started as the ‘perfect date’ idea, made me quickly want to share it with the rest of the city. I envison Pop A Picnic to be luxurious but with minimalism and simplicity.

Since we first started, I still can’t believe what this business has become. I’ve participated in weddings, styled events, planned several party picnics, and customized balloon installations/backdrops.  We’ve been featured in several San Antonio magazines and even participate in coorporate events. From set-up to take down, watching my clients from a distance, or seeing us tagged in your social media, brings me a whole other kind of joy. I plan to keep growing Pop a Picnic and making your event dreams come true so stay tuned.

My name is Mariel Feliz Reyes. I’m a hispanic female entrepreneur who started Pop a Picnic when I was twenty-five. I was born and raised in Seguin, TX, until 2018, and then, I made a move to San Antonio, TX. I graduated high school from Navarro High School in Geronimo, TX, in 2014 and received my Associates in Biology Pre-Nursing from San Antonio Colleges in 2017. I’m a fur mom to three beautiful pups named Kilo, Zoot, and Sadie Bean. I live with my handsome boyfriend who at times, is Pop a Picnic’s best employee possible. I’m a student and a full-time employee. I have worked in the medical field for several years now. After the first two years of college, I took a break from finishing school. I was uncertain about what career path was best for me. Juggling side jobs as a bartender/waitress and in the medical field, I discovered a different part of myself. Today, I’m pursuing my nursing degree and feel completely content. I’ve never been the type to do “just” one thing. I love change and variety while remaining focused on my goals. Being a small business owner has definitely shaped me in several ways. Not only do I appreciate/support small businesses more today, but I’m very proud of myself as a business owner. I wouldn’t be here without God. I believe the talent I carry was a gift from Him and is intended to be shared with this community. I’m so excited about my future and can’t thank you enough for being a part of my journey. God is good, all the time.

xoxo,

Mari
